palestinians celebrating and the world is reacting to an overwhelming united nations vote. the u.n. upgrading palestine's status to nonmember observer state. danielle leigh is live on capitol hill right now and has more on this defeat for israel and the the united states. good morning, danielle. >> reporter: jon, good morning. the fear is that yesterday's vote is going to make palestine less likely to negotiate a peace agreement with israel moving forward. yesterday the united nations overwhelmingly voted to upgrade their status to a nonmember state and that allows palestine to go after israel in international court, which could delay or complicate efforts at creating two independent states of palestine and israel. ambassador susan rice said she is disappointed by the vote. the u.s. had tried to prevent it by threatening funding in the west bank. rice said the only way to truly create an independent palestinian state is through direct talks with israel, something the u.s. is committed to helping make happen. even though this vote was largely symbolic, palestinians yesterday took to the street
